Utility of the Year 2012
We beat strong competition to win the prestigious Utility of the Year title. In 2012 we dramatically improved the reliability of power supplies, customer satisfaction, staff engagement and development, plus achieved a strong financial performance. The judges said that they were impressed by our “improved performance across the board”.
Team of the year 2012
Our Olympic delivery team won Team of the Year, at the Utility Industry Achievement Awards in December 2012. This was due to a standout achievement was the delivery, on time and on budget, of the Olympic Park’s new state-of-the-art electrical network and keeping the power running for Games venues and London transport hubs.
Highly commended for our environment initiative
In 2012, during the Utility Industry Achievement Awards, we were highly commended in the environment initiative category for the work we have achieved during the partnership with the nine Wildlife Trusts in our geographical area. We offered both financial and volunteering support. We also engaged experts from their consultancy departments to advise us about construction sites and enhancing biodiversity.
Awarded Investors in People Silver Standard
In 2012 we were awarded the Silver Standard for Investors in People. This involved an external assessor collecting evidence by interviewing 154 employees and managers. The Investors in People report noted that we had driven through an exceptional level of change and improvements during a 12-month period in 2011 and 2012.
Big Ticks from Business in the Community
In 2011, we have received Big Ticks from Business in the Community. These recognise our education programme and our work with the British Red Cross to support vulnerable customers.
