We have been sending an email to our customers to let them know how they can get extra support during a power cut. The email came from news@e-ukpowernetworks.co.uk

From whom did we get your email address?
We received your email address from your electricity supplier - the company to which you pay your electricity bills. Your electricity supplier is required to pass this information to UK Power Networks so we can contact you if there is a power cut. We will not use this information to contact you for marketing purposes. We do want to let you know who you should contact during a power cut and how you can get extra support at that time. This change was made in September 2014 following widespread power cuts due to severe weather in 2013 and early 2014. We’re committed to protecting and respecting your privacy and we’ll take all steps necessary to ensure that this information is treated securely. For more information please see our data privacy policy here.

Have you got my bank details?
No your electricity supplier has not sent us your bank details.

How do you keep my data secure?
• The security of your data is important to UK Power Networks. We are required to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998. Our Privacy Policy sets out how we manage your data.
• We keep the security of our IT systems under continuous and close review.

How do I stop the emails?
If you do not want to receive emails from UK Power Networks, please enter your email address here. We may have received up to four email addresses from your electricity supplier, so please individually enter all of the email addresses from which you wish to unsubscribe.
