UK Power Networks has appointed Julie Minns as its new Head of Customer Engagement.

In the newly-designed role Minns will oversee external communications, stakeholder engagement and sustainability for the UK’s largest electricity distributor; and joins UK Power Networks shortly after the network moved from fifth to second place in Ofgem’s annual stakeholder engagement rankings.

Prior to UK Power Networks Minns was a Partner at leading communications consultancy Bell Pottinger, and also spent 13 years at the mobile network operator Three, managing public affairs, corporate responsibility and consumer regulation.

With a background in the voluntary sector, working for both Scope and NSPCC and four years as a Local Authority Councillor; Minns brings a wealth of understanding and experience of stakeholder engagement and consumer issues at a local and national level.

Commenting on the appointment UK Power Networks’ Director of Customer Service, Matt Rudling said: “I am delighted to welcome Julie to the team.  Her appointment will strengthen our engagement with stakeholders and ensure we continue to draw on their feedback to deliver the best, most cost-effective electricity supply to 8.1m homes and businesses.”

Minns said: “I am thrilled to be joining UK Power Networks at a time when the role of distribution networks is changing. Now more than ever it’s crucial that networks engage actively with customers, influencers and decision makers, and I’m looking forward to getting out into communities across the South and East and London to hear from customers and stakeholders first hand.”
