UK Power Networks Services Powerlink Ltd is the company responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining the electrical power network for London Underground. 

UK Power Networks Services Powerlink Ltd is 80% owned by UK Power Networks, 10% by Balfour Beatty, and 10% by ABB.  This provides the necessary expertise in electricity network operation, construction management, and power equipment to provide an efficient and reliable power system for London’s underground railway system. 

London has one of the largest and busiest metro systems in the world, with over 3 million passenger journeys every day, and is the host city for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  

Our and London Underground’s shared objectives are to:-

• Provide a safe, available network, now and into the future
• Manage safety risks to the public, our staff, and all workers on the railway
• Deliver a reliable power system and renew, replace and upgrade the power system

UK Power Networks Services Powerlink Ltd provides and distributes over 1 Terra Watt Hours of electricity to keep the underground running.
