About UK Power Networks

If you live in London, the East of England or the South East of England you are probably one of more than 8 million customers to whom we distribute electricity.

We own and operate the network of cables and power lines that bring the electricity to your door.  Our networks are vast.  Laid out, they would stretch several times around the circumference of the earth. 

Altogether, there are 170,000 kilometres of underground cables and overhead lines and more than 130,000 substations.

UK Power Networks is owned by the Cheung Kong Group (CKG) which has a proven pedigree in running high-quality utility companies, and a track record of wise investment and long-term plans.  It already successfully operates electricity distribution businesses serving communities in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
