About power outages

We aim to provide a safe and reliable electricity supply to you all, but occasionally things do go wrong or we need to switch the power off to do planned work on our network.

Regardless of how much we protect, maintain and improve our network faults will still occur. These faults may affect just one property or sometimes many thousands and can occur for a variety of different reasons.

The type of fault will also determine how long the power remains off.  Sometimes our networks can automatically correct themselves, but in times of severe weather it may take us many days to restore power to everyone.
