Occasionally electricity meter boards need to be replaced. We can replace your electricity meter board safely for you.

Electricity meter boards need changing when:

  • The meter board is rotten

  • It is damp or there is risk of asbestos 

  • It is coming away from the wall

Different companies own the electrical equipment in your home
We own your electrical fuse (sometimes called electricity supply, service head, cut out) and the cables coming into your property so we are trained to work on this equipment. The company you pay your electricity bills to own your electricity meter, then you own the fuse box (sometimes called trip switches) inside your property.
Sometimes we can change your meter board for you at no cost

If your meter board holds our electricity supply then we can replace this for you free of charge. We would turn the power off so we can work safely, unscrew the board and replace it, then put all the equipment back on a new board and turn everything back on again. In some cases we may need your electricity supplier to move the electricity meter and your electrician to move any internal electrical equipment on the board, but we’ll talk you through it all first. Please be aware that if your board has asbestos this may take longer to change as this will require a specialist engineer to attend.

If the board you need replacing doesn’t have our electricity supply on it then the company you pay your electricity bills to need to carry out the work.
