Temporary connection: What's involved

To connect you to electricity we’ll find the nearest suitable electricity cable to your site. This is usually in the road or pathway where we’ll need to dig a large hole to access the cable. From the hole in road or pathway, we’ll lay a new electricity cable and run it to where you want your electricity meter to be.

Before we arrive, digging may be needed on your land. We can do this digging for you or, if you chose to do this yourself, we can provide all the details. We’ll also provide the black tubing (ducting) which needs to be placed inside the trench. On the day, we’ll lay new electricity cable and run it to where you want your electricity meter to be. To prepare for this, you will need to make sure the following is complete:
  • A trench needs to be dug on your land (if you have decided to complete this yourself)
  • A new kiosk will need to be built where the electricity meter can be installed safely and securely.
