The Utility Networks group - Collaborating to support customers in vulnerable circumstances

Posted on 24 August 2018 12:38 PM by rober1k

Electricity, gas and water providers have joined forces to share knowledge and best practice so that customers who need us most are aware of the services available and where needed are supported.

The Utility Networks group was designed to collaborate on and deliver co-ordinated support and advice for customers in vulnerable circumstances across the local utilities distribution area.

As we all operate in the same geographical area, it makes sense for us to work together. The forum means we can help each other find and support our customers who are in vulnerable circumstances for a variety of different reasons such as kidney failure, age, hearing and sight loss, mobility issues and mental and physical health. We can then offer a co-ordinated response and support to those customers more effectively.

Looking at the bigger picture

We don’t just help and walk away either, we look at the bigger picture and because of our wider knowledge from our utility network - we can provide information to our customers about other services and in some cases make is it simpler for customer by referring them directly.

Utilities that are part of the network are: Affinity Water, Anglian Water, Essex & Suffolk Water, South East Water, SES Water, South Staffordshire Water, Thames Water, Cadent, SGN and UK Power Networks. As a collaborative network, we cover these areas.

Working together

Our customers tell us that working together makes it easier for them. Our priority is to collaborate to provide access to information and services easier for customers.

Have a read of our useful tips booklet, where expects from electricity, gas and water companies team up to share tips, knowledge, information and advice. Download our useful tips booklet.
