Celebrating diversity at graduate jobs fair

UK Power Networks recruiters are at National Student Pride’s graduate careers fair this weekend promoting jobs in the industry that makes everything tick.

From Press releases - 9 February 2018 12:00 AM

Britain’s biggest electricity distributor has 23 graduate job vacancies for roles starting in September and is keen to attract a diverse workforce representing all walks of life.

The company, which keeps the lights on across a quarter of Britain, is sponsoring the annual event  at the University of Westminster’s Marylebone Campus which aims to empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students as they embark on their careers.

Four staff will be running a stand at the jobs fair tomorrow (Feb 10) showcasing the wide range of graduate opportunities available, including exciting roles in smart grids, data science, electrical engineering, quantity surveying and project management.

Emma Barbour, a recruiter at UK Power Networks, said: “We want to attract the most diverse workforce so it’s great to have a presence at National Student Pride for the first time this year. There are so many job opportunities in our sector and we are focused on developing an inclusive culture where everyone matters.

“We run various employee networks at UK Power Networks, including our LGBT network, where our employees can discuss what works in our company culture, what doesn’t and recommend improvements. We are also working towards accreditation under the National Equality Standard, the accepted standard for inclusiveness in business across the UK.”

UK Power Networks will be available throughout the event on Saturday to share their insight and answer questions on their job opportunities across London, the South East and East of England. They will be at the graduate recruitment fair from 12.30 to 5pm tomorrow (Feb 10).

Over the next three days over 1,700 students from 170 universities across the UK and around the world are due to attend the annual event, now in its fifth year. For further details visit the website or follow them on twitter @studentpride
