A young Suffolk football team does not need to stir up a hornet’s nest, they are happy that they have been given money for new tracksuits from UK Power Networks.

Holbrook Hornets have been awarded a much needed £250 from the power company which delivers electricity to 8.3 million homes and businesses across the East of England, London and the South East.

Employee Paul Ross, who works for the company in Ipswich, applied for the grant as the Hornets were about to embark on Under 18s football. Paul’s son plays for the team and he has been part of the organisation since his son started playing for them at the age of six. Currently Paul is the Under 18s coach.

Paul said: “I think the award is a great idea and shows UK Power Networks supporting the communities it serves. Everyone at the club is very grateful and the lads are looking forward to wearing their new tracksuits.”

The Team Sport Award scheme is run by UK Power Networks to encourage staff to volunteer in the community and is aimed at promoting healthy living, teamwork and developing sports opportunities. So far this year more than 70 local sports teams connected to UK Power Networks’ staff have benefitted from a combined sum of over £18,000.
