The Mayor was accompanied on the fact finding trip by a number of councillors who toured the power distribution company’s site which employs 621 staff, mainly from the Ipswich area.

They heard about changes in the energy industry, the uptake of electric vehicles, battery storage and the free Priority Services Register which offers help to people in vulnerable circumstances
.
After the tour, which included how power cuts are fixed and engineers dispatched, Councillor Riley said; “I have been very impressed. It was good to see behind the scenes at the everyday services you take for granted. This Ipswich site is an important centre and a big local employer.

It was interesting to see it from the customer’s point of view and how faults are dealt with.”
