The Stotfold Juniors Under 7 five-a-side team are enjoying their first season together in a youth league. The jackets are going to be worn both on and off the pitch after a grant of £250 from UK Power Networks.

The award is thanks to Gareth Cottenden, a cable jointer based in Stevenage, under his company’s Team Sports Award. His son Teddy, 7, plays for the team and Gareth is the manager coach.

“Getting this award has really helped as we have to buy all our own training gear. The boys are really pleased and will use them on training days and match days,” said Gareth.

Hundreds of community and sports groups have benefited from grants since the scheme was set up. This year (2020) teams have benefitted from a total of more than £15,000.
