Vinters FC were nominated for the award by Matt Kibble, an engineer at the electricity distribution company, whose son Max will play for the local Under 7 side this season.

The £250 cash injection will help to fund new equipment and clothing for the team who train at a local school on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and play matches on Saturday mornings.

Matt said: “It’s a great feeling to have helped secure funding that will help the local community. The club is run by volunteers so everyone is giving up their time and money to ensure these kids have the best opportunity to be successful. I’m a coach at the club and conduct training sessions and help on match days, so this award will go a long way in supporting them to buy better resources.”

The Team Sport Award scheme encourages UK Power Networks staff to volunteer in the community and is aimed at promoting healthy living, teamwork and development of sporting opportunities. Hundreds of community and sports groups have benefited from grants since the scheme was set up and last year £18,000 was donated to sporting groups.
