Installation of electricity cables in Slyfield Green to Woodbridge Road, Guildford

What are we doing?

We manage the electricity network delivering power to your area including the connection and relocation of our power cables.

Engineers are currently working on a project to construct a new electricity substation, including associated underground cables, for a customer in the area. We will also be upgrading equipment within our existing Guildford substation to further maintain the wider electricity network.

Our efforts will enhance the network's ability to manage the continuously increasing demand for electricity, as well as improve its reliability and capacity to facilitate future expansion.

What will the work entail?

In the first stage of our work we are installing new underground electricity cables between electricity substations. We carried out feasibility work, to identify the best route first, to minimise disruption and we have worked closely with the local authority to plan our work.

Our team will dig short trenches to lay pipework (ducts) and pull through new underground cables. This allows us to keep the excavations as small as possible. We will return to open excavations at intervals along the route to pull the new cables into position and join them to our electricity network.
