UK Power Networks which delivers electricity from the national grid to 8.5 million homes and businesses across the East, South East and London, has recently won a host of awards including in the European Contact Centre And Customer Service Awards.

About 350 employees work in the company’s Ipswich contact centre, on 24/7 shifts 365 days a year. Together they achieve 94% satisfaction scores from customers when they are surveyed by industry regulator Ofgem. The electricity network is 99.9% reliable, however power cuts can happen occasionally for a range of reasons.

Some of the team who will be ready and waiting to answer customer calls over the festive period, recently won praise at the company’s Recognition Evening. They included Milly Burrowes who was named ‘Rising Star’ after colleagues said: “She is very driven and always wants to do a good job. She is currently smashing all her targets!” and “A great role model.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to telephony manager Clive Patmore, after colleagues said: “Clive has dedicated his life to UK Power Networks and makes an invaluable contribution” and “He’s the go-to person!”
Head of the contact centre Alex Williams said: “I’m really proud of what our team has achieved this year. When something doesn’t go to plan we listen, learn, and find ways to improve. When people contact us, it’s often for the first time and they express surprise at the level of compassion and support offered by our knowledgeable advisors on the phones and social media.”
