Norwich to Tilbury diversions
UK Power Networks owns and maintains electricity substations, cables and overhead lines across London, the South East and East of England and makes sure power flows reliably, safely, and securely.
The Norwich to Tilbury 400kV overhead line connection project proposed by National Grid is currently going through the consultation period.
We are the region’s Distribution Network Operator and our electricity cables run close by or across the route proposed by National Grid. Before any decision is made about the Norwich to Tilbury route we have to investigate which of our cables would need moving if the project went ahead.
No diversion works would start until a decision is made about the National Grid route. Our surveys do not mean the project has been approved and will not influence any decisions about the route.
The surveys will include environmental or ground investigations. UK Power Networks will approach landowners and occupiers to arrange the surveys and explain what we need to do.

What is happening next?
As part of developing our proposals, we will be contacting landowners affected by the route.
We have appointed Dalcour Maclaren to contact individual landowners to discuss the proposed diversions, including arranging survey access and any potential land consents required.
