£1.55 million investment boosts power supplies for rural community
UK Power Networks has invested £1.55 million in upgrading electricity equipment in the Suffolk village of Hacheston.
Engineers have replaced seven circuit breakers and other key equipment that helps electricity flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses in the area.
The project has introduced modern switchgear and advanced remote-control technology, enabling engineers to respond to faults quicker and restore power faster if a power cut ever happens.
The substation supplies electricity to nearly 3,000 customers in the area who will benefit from a safer and more reliable power supply into the future.
Project manager, Thomas Eng, said: “Our customers rely on us to provide a safe, reliable electricity supply every day, which is why we're continuing to invest in our network.
“This work will help strengthen the local electricity infrastructure and support future demand, ensuring homes, businesses and communities can continue to depend on a resilient power supply for years to come.”
