UK Power Networks honours careers at ‘40+ Club’ celebration

UK Power Networks has recognised decades of expertise at its annual 40+ Club dinner, celebrating employees who have dedicated 40 years or more to keeping electricity supplies safe and reliable.

The event honoured 63 new members joining the company’s 40+ Club, which now includes 369 long-serving employees. Together, they represent decades of experience supporting the operation and evolution of the electricity network serving millions of homes and businesses across London, the South East and East of England.

Held in London, the evening recognised the vital role these employees have played through a period of significant change for the energy sector – from running the cables and substations that deliver power, to supporting the transition to heat pumps and electric vehicles.

Richard Boissieux, 40+ Club joiner, said: “There’s so much opportunity in the electricity industry right now, from electric vehicles to heat networks. It’s an exciting place to build a career, whether you’re working on the tools or behind the scenes.”

Nigel Gibson, fellow 40+ Club joiner, said: “It feels like yesterday, but when you stop and think about it, you realise just how much has changed. UK Power Networks has built a reputation as one of the best in the industry, whether that’s customer service or safety performance, and a lot of people are very proud to be part of that.”

Basil Scarsella, chief executive of UK Power Networks, said: “It is always a privilege to celebrate colleagues who have devoted so many years to serving our customers and communities. Their service, skill and commitment have helped keep electricity supplies flowing for millions of people, and we are proud to recognise their outstanding contribution.”
