A jump to save a life
West Ham man Lee Robinson took on a skydive to raise money for 10-year-old Huxley, who is battling a rare form of leukaemia.
After hearing the upsetting news that a close family member was diagnosed with a rapidly progressing form of cancer, Lee felt a call to help his family by doing something completely out of his comfort zone.
In December 2025, life changed for Lee’s family when they were told that their 10-year-old son, Huxley, was suffering from a severe form of leukaemia, Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
Despite Huxley’s remarkable resilience and positive outlook, his cancer is now refractory, meaning the leukaemia has not been controlled by standard intensive treatments. Even after three rounds of intensive chemotherapy over the past five months in hospital, his body is still producing active cancer cells. Now, his only hope of long-term survival is an umbilical or donor stem cell transplant which requires months of isolation and intensive treatment.
Due to the urgency of Huxley’s condition, his parents have started fundraising to help achieve the £500,000 needed to pay for life-changing treatment. With over £50,000 raised to date, Lee, a field manager on UK Power Networks’ West Ham site, decided to contribute to the fundraising by taking part in a skydive to raise funds quickly.
Lee said; “I believe my role as field manager at UK Power Networks, where focus, safety, and decision-making are critical, helped me prepare for the challenge.
“Honestly, I can’t imagine what my relatives are going through, it just really highlights the fact that you really don’t know what’s around the corner.”
According to Cancer Research UK, around 1,987 children are diagnosed with cancer every year.
