Secret Santa salvation for Ipswich Family Bank

Ipswich Family Bank has received an early visit from Santa this December, via caring staff at UK Power Networks!

Call centre workers from the electricity firm in Ipswich, traded traditional ‘Secret Santa’ festivities to instead buy toys for the children helped by Ipswich Family Bank.

The electricity distributor delivers electricity to the East, South East and London with offices spread across the regions and thousands of engineers out on the road. A small team of 16 based in Ipswich decided to spread some joy to the local charity, by shopping with donation money to fill up stockings with a variety of gifts for the children.

Emmajane Rose, Charlotte Willis and Sharmin Farjana got their elf hats on and wrapped a total of 100 hampers for families needing support over the festive period. Charlotte said: “What a year this was! everyone was so appreciative of everyone’s generosity. There will be some very happy children in Ipswich!”

Ipswich Family Bank volunteers help families of all ages with daily essentials and more information can be found on Facebook. Cherie from the community group said: “Every year the team from UK Power Networks think of us and help pack up hampers. They are joyful to have around. They really get stuck in and understand what we are striving to do.”

UK Power Networks delivers the power to homes and businesses in this area, with teams on shifts 24/7, available on freephone 105, to help throughout the festive season. The electricity networks have a reliability rate of 99.9%, but power cuts can sometimes happen for a range of reasons, including exceptional weather blowing tree branches and other debris onto overhead power lines.
