New wisteria now adorns the dance tunnel at Aldenham Country Park thanks to UK Power Networks volunteers

The team of 17 spent Friday (April 25) rubbing down fences and repainting, cleaning up the tractor-themed play area, improving the dance tunnel and raking up the bug alley.

The 100-acre site, 12 miles from central London, offers social care, education, sensory rooms, farm visits, camping and events. It has 175,000 visitors a year who will benefit from the maintenance work completed by UK Power Networks’ team.

Martine Xenophontos, operations manager at the country park, said: “We were delighted to welcome the UK Power Networks team on site for a day of volunteering. They were a fantastic group; enthusiastic, hardworking, and a pleasure to work with. Thanks to their efforts, we achieved a great deal and made a real impact at the park.

“For any other groups considering a volunteering day, it’s a brilliant team-building experience. Plus, you’ll leave knowing you’ve made a meaningful contribution, enhancing the park’s beauty for countless visitors to enjoy.”

Liz Nicolaou from the electricity firm’s Borehamwood office said: “Our company gives us two paid days a year to volunteer for our local communities, which is really rewarding to do and it’s nice to get out of the office into the fresh air. Everyone puts a lot of effort in and it was very satisfying to see how much could be achieved in a day.”
