New partnerships deliver vital energy support to vulnerable households

Thousands of households are set to benefit from enhanced energy support as UK Power Networks launches a new four-year Enduring Partnership programme with Community Energy Pathways and Hope4U.

The initiative has been designed to help around 60,000 customers facing energy challenges by providing both immediate assistance and longer-term solutions, helping households reduce costs, improve home efficiency and feel more in control of their energy use.

A key element of the programme is supporting customers to access grants for low carbon technologies (LCTs), helping improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Customers will not only be signposted to available funding but will also receive ongoing support throughout the process, from initial advice through to installation where appropriate.

Community Energy Pathways, an existing partner, will continue its community-focused delivery model, working through a network of local groups to reach people where they are. Services will include engagement events in trusted community spaces, offering face-to-face advice, carrying out home visits for those needing more tailored support, and training local Energy Champions to build long-term capability within communities.

Joining the programme as a new partner, Hope4U will bring a national delivery model that combines scale with flexibility. The organisation will primarily provide in-depth support through telephone and video appointments, ensuring accessibility for customers who may find it difficult to engage in person. Where additional help is needed, this will be complemented by home visits.

Across both partnerships, customers will have access to a wide range of support options. These include practical guidance on managing energy use, as well as more comprehensive assistance such as accessing financial support, benefits advice and grant funding opportunities.

By combining local, place-based engagement with scalable national support the programme aims to address the root causes of fuel poverty while empowering customers to adopt more sustainable energy behaviours.

Jo Lomax, consumer vulnerability manager at UK Power Networks, said: “By combining their expertise in community engagement and national delivery, we can reach more customers with the tailored support they need. These partnerships are key to helping vulnerable customers feel more confident managing their energy and ensuring no one is left behind in the transition to a more sustainable energy future.”

Luke Arnold, director at Hope4U, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be starting this new project with UK Power Networks. At Hope 4U, we see every day how much of a difference practical, timely support can make to people who are struggling with energy costs and wider financial pressures.

“This partnership gives us the opportunity to reach more households, offer reassurance when it is needed most, and help people feel supported, listened to and less alone. We are really excited to begin this work together and make a positive difference in the communities we serve.”
