Power company collects IT and business accolades
An electricity company has been applauded for its major successes in the digital sectors, collecting three awards at ceremonies this week.
UK Power Networks, which delivers electricity to 8.5 million homes and businesses across London, the South East and East of England, won two awards for its 2023 Annual Review at Communicate Magazine’s Corporate & Financial Awards in London on 12 November.
In partnership with Instinctif Partners, UK Power Networks won the Gold award for ‘Best online report – Unlisted’ and Silver for ‘Best printed report – Unlisted’ categories.
UK Power Networks also collected the ‘Digital Transformation Project of the Year’ at the UK IT Industry Awards 2024. The award went to the company’s ‘Smart Connect’ web portal, which slashes approval times to enable more low carbon technologies (like heat pumps and solar panels) to connect than any other electricity network.
UK Power Networks is highly regarded for its industry-leading customer service and communication. The awards achieved this week highlight innovative work by the company’s IT and financial staff.
Matt Webb, Chief Information Officer, UK Power Networks, said: “We are delighted to celebrate our award wins, which are a testament to the progress our IT and financial staff have made over the past year.
“Whilst UK Power Networks is seen by many as an electricity company, our growing digital presence means we are continually advancing to meet the evolving demands of our customers and continue to provide a first-class customer service as the industry strives to meet Net Zero.”
Last week the company placed 2nd in the Top 25 Best Big Companies to Work for List. Basil Scarsella, chief executive of UK Power Networks, was also awarded a special award for Best Leader and UK Power Networks was named Best Improver by Best Companies.
