UK Power Networks won the prestigious title at the Utility Week Awards held at the Grosvenor House hotel in London. The company delivers power supplies to 8.4 million homes and businesses across London, the South East and East of England. It was recently named as the top employer in London under the Best Companies scheme, and has now been recognised nationally for the strength of its response in 2021 during the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
Judges at the Utility Week Awards praised the way the company had invested in employees, protected their wellbeing and championed equality, diversity and inclusion.
Director of HR Andrew Pace said: “During 2021 we significantly stepped up our communications, led by our CEO through his weekly video updates and social network ‘chats’ with employees. During a fast-changing and uncertain time, our staff were kept informed, engaged and importantly able to give feedback in real time. Knowing their jobs were secure and making extra provisions for their wellbeing employees delivered excellent performance, the best safety record in our sector, most reliable power supplies and highest customer satisfaction scores.”
