Training excellence recognised at Government’s regional awards
UK Power Networks craft apprenticeship training at Bury St Edmunds was highly commended at the East of England Regional Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2025.
UK Power Networks craft apprenticeship training at Bury St Edmunds was highly commended at the East of England Regional Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2025.
The awards, run by the Department for Education, recognise the success of UK Power Networks’ training programme, which develops skilled specialists to maintain and upgrade the electricity network that delivers power across the region.
Overhead linespeople, substation fitters and cable jointers learn their craft at the company’s specialist training centres at Bury St Edmunds, in Suffolk and Sundridge, in Kent.
Stephen Medway, technical training team leader at UK Power Networks, said: “We’re delighted to receive this recognition which reflects the dedication of our trainees, instructors, and support teams at Bury St Edmunds, Risby and Sundridge. We’re proud to invest in the next generation of electricity professionals who will help to deliver reliable electricity supplies to millions of homes and businesses.”
In addition to team recognition, UK Power Networks’ cable jointer Anton Povstyan was recently honoured with the prestigious IET Apprentice Prize for outstanding performance in his craft apprenticeship, which he successfully completed in April. Anton’s commitment to his profession and impact on peers and the community was highlighted.
