Triple celebration for UK Power Networks employees
Employees at electricity distributor UK Power Networks are celebrating today, after bringing home three trophies at the ‘Oscars’ of their industry – including being named Utility of the Year.
Employees were delighted to win big at the Utility Week Awards hosted in London by TV’s Claudia Winkleman, adding to a unique track record of repeatedly winning Utility of the Year (in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2023 and now 2025).
Utility Week judges said the company was an exceptional ‘all-rounder, having demonstrated outstanding performance across key areas’ including customer service, value for money, decarbonisation efforts and innovation. Its transformative projects such as the use of AI for customer service and the development of digital tools and democratised data have set new industry standards.
London’s Capital Programme managers won Team of the Year after delivering more than 150 infrastructure projects in a year while reducing spend by £41 million. The company’s Distribution System Operator won Strategic Partner of the Year together with UK100, having equipped local authorities with tools and advice to support decarbonisation plans.
This year UK Power Networks staff have won more than 40 awards including national and international accolades.
Chief executive Basil Scarsella said: “2025 has been another year of excellent performance thanks to the dedication and hard work of our 6,500 employees. Many of them are out working round the clock, in all conditions, to maintain and upgrade the electricity network, keep the lights on and keep lives running smoothly for about 20million people. That’s a responsibility which both they and their office-based colleagues take very seriously.”
