The Independent Stakeholder Group for UK Power Networks
The ISG independently scrutinises and challenges the way UKPN ensures that customers, consumers and stakeholders, now and in future, are at the heart of its strategy, plans and operations.

The ISG for UK Power Networks began in 2019 as mandated by Ofgem to ensure that customer, consumer and stakeholder voices are embedded in the way the business is run and how it performs. We focus on two areas: scrutinising the development of UK Power Networks’ ED3 Business Plan and how it relates to the company’s 25-year strategy; and monitoring the delivery of the commitments made in its ED2 Business Plan.

A statement from our Chair
UK Power Networks’ customers continue to face cost of living pressures including high and rising energy bills; the number in vulnerable circumstances has grown; the shift to decarbonisation has accelerated; and new technologies present opportunities and challenges. The ISG will consider whether UK Power Networks’ plan reflects these realities and challenge how the company is responding to its environment, making trade-offs and planning in the interests of customers now and in future.
The ISG brings decades of experience in energy, regulation and consumer advocacy, which we apply to the circumstances of UK Power Networks’ customers, consumers and stakeholders. We stay grounded in practicalities rather than theoretical ideals.
