Click & Quote (Phase 2)

Click & Quote Phase 2 will help eligible customers receive electricity connection quotes faster by automatically checking whether a previous quote exists for the same site and requirements. Where a suitable match is found, a digital tool (built, deployed and trialled through this project) will provide an anonymised existing quote instantly, reducing duplicated work and improving the speed, consistency and fairness of the quoting process.

Key deliverables

  • Digital quoting tool integrated with Smart Gateway and Salesforce
  • Automated matching of eligible quote requests against previously issued quotes for the same site and requirements
  • Instant issue of anonymised existing quotes where a suitable match is found
  • Updated business processes and system changes to support operation of the tool
  • Trial across UK Power Networks’ three licence areas to gather feedback and validate performance
  • Outcomes report covering user feedback, benefits, recommendations for BAU adoption and potential wider replication

Target outcomes

  • Faster quote turnaround for eligible customers where a suitable previous quote exists
  • Reduced duplicated effort for Connections teams
  • Greater consistency and fairness in quotes issued for the same site and requirements
  • Reduced risk of regulatory penalties linked to quote timeliness
  • Improved customer experience through a quicker and more consistent quoting process

Measures of success

  • Tool successfully built and integrated with Smart Gateway and Salesforce
  • Reliable matching of eligible requests to previous quotes for the same site and requirements
  • Reduction in duplicated manual effort and quote turnaround time
  • Customer engagement and feedback collected through trial activity
  • Updated benefits assessment and recommendations completed for BAU adoption

Stakeholder Engagement

Click & Quote - Major Connections (Phase 1)

In the Competitions in Connections (CiC) business, there is a currently a 15% acceptance rate of quotes. This means that 85% of time spent results in wasted effort, and thus higher costs for customers, affecting our competitiveness when compared to the rest of the market. Therefore, UK Power Networks requires a simple, cost-effective way to prevent this duplication of efforts, leading to improved timelines, lower prices, and higher satisfaction for customers.

Powercast 2.0

Powercast 2.0 is a NIA-funded discovery project exploring how UK Power Networks’ Live Fault API can be used by external partners to improve operational response to outages and proactively inform shared customers. The project engaged eight organisations across five sectors, validated high-value use cases, and produced a delivery roadmap for potential follow-on implementation through Powercast 3.0.
