Powercast 2.0
Powercast 2.0 is a NIA-funded discovery project exploring how UK Power Networks’ Live Fault API can be used by external partners to improve operational response to outages and proactively inform shared customers. The project engaged eight organisations across five sectors, validated high-value use cases, and produced a delivery roadmap for potential follow-on implementation through Powercast 3.0.
Key deliverables
- Working AI-enabled digital app fault-checking prototype using Live Fault API polling. This included multi-DNO dashboard prototype integrating live fault data and Environment Agency flood warnings
Target outcomes
- Validated demand for wider use of UK Power Networks’ Live Fault API across multiple sectors
- Improved understanding of partner use cases for outage notifications, operational response and customer support
- Identified opportunities to improve vulnerable customer communications through partner channels
- Confirmed the technical and commercial basis for a potential Powercast 3.0 delivery phase
- Established a model where UK Power Networks provides data and partners build customer-facing or operational integrations
